Creative Writing Workshop for Adults:


3:30 pm –5:30 pm            "Écrivains en Herbe" workshop by M.J. Fievre

Do you have a story to tell but don’t know where to start, or how? On May 29, celebrated Haitian-American writer M.J. Fievre will teach all “écrivains en herbe” the basics of a solid plot and provide tools that allow you to create memorable characters for both fiction and nonfiction.

  • Children’s Corner at the Little Haiti Cultural Center (on-going events) 
  • “Read To Learn” FREE children and young adult books (start your child's personal library at this year's Haitian-Caribbean book fair.

    Read to Learn Books for Free is a program of The Children's Trust in partnership with The Center for Writing and Literature @ Miami Dade College. The program encourages children and parents to read together by placing bookshelves full of free books in over 40 locations throughout Miami-Dade County.

11:30 – 12:30 am             StoryArts Time! 

Turn stories into art! Join artist educator Bess Perry for a fun-filled story-time reading of Otto the Book Bear then create your own work of art inspired by the book! You even get to take the book home for more storytelling fun! Limited to 25 kids.

3:30 pm – 4:30 pm        What Trip Is This?

Enjoy Mahalia Solages' wonderful read-aloud storybook "What Trip Is This?" and learn invaluable lessons from the importance of eating only healthy snacks (despite the temptations of airport candy) to the necessity of taking potty breaks whenever one has the opportunity during long journeys. Fun and informative for the whole family.
